Title: Meditation: Saturday, July 13, 2002

The Catholic Calendar for Saturday, July 13, 2002
    Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time
    St. Henry

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
    Isaiah 6:1-8
    Psalm 93:1-2,5
    Matthew 10:24-33

A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

"Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,
nor secret that will not be known."

Today's gospel is full of words of encouragement and comfort. Jesus
tells us not to be afraid, that even the hairs on our head are
counted, that nothing befalls us without our Father's knowledge. This
is encouragement indeed! Knowing that our Father in heaven is always
with us no matter what steps we take. If only we would allow Him
share our lives more fully!

Jesus also tells us that no disciple is above his teacher, no slave
above his master. Particularly today, I would like to bring to mind
all who are finding their work relationships with bosses and
colleagues difficult and unrewarding. Persevering in their dutiful
role, acting with faith and integrity, let us remember the words of
Jesus quoted above, and know that our Father sees all things and
understands our plights and difficulties.

Today, let us ask for the strength of the Holy Spirit
                           to enlighten and guide us.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
                                        Amen.
