I am back on duty, my computer was in the shop TWICE in October and no it
was not a virus <g>
Monday is November first and time to update your Virus Definitions. Below
are a couple of the common nasty viruses around. There are LOTS more.
W97M.Melissa.U (Gen1)
Detected As: W97M.Melissa.U (Gen1)
Infection Length: one VBA5 module named "Mmmmmmm"
Area of Infection: Macro
Likelihood: Common
Trigger Date: When document is opened
Detected On: Oct. 15, 1999
Characteristics: Worm, Wild, Melissa
The "W97M.Melissa.U (Gen1)" virus is a modified variant of the infamous
W97M.Melissa.A virus that wreaked havoc worldwide in late March 1999. In
early October 1999, a variant was discovered called W97M.Melissa.U virus
Characteristics of Infection
The document infected with W97M.Melissa.U (Gen1) will arrive in an email
with the following Subject line and body with a Word document attachment:
Subject: pictures USERNAME
Body: whats up?
USERNAME will be the name registered in the local copy of Word. For
example, it may be "Subject: pictures John Doe". If you receive such an
email, you should notify your system administrator immediately. Do not
attempt to open
the attached document.

Characteristics: Worm, PrettyPark.EXE, Files32.VXD
This is a worm program that behaves similar to Happy99 Worm. This worm
program was originally spread by email spamming from a French email address.
The attached program file is named "PrettyPark.EXE".
