First there have been several virus warning floating around that are
hoaxes. I usually don't post about them but several people has sent them to
me so I know more people must be concerned.. The below viruses are HOAXES
FROGAPULT, ELFBOWL, Y2KGAME Virus Hoax
The programs mentioned in the virus hoax exists but does not contain a virus.
Symantec AntiVirus Research Center has received many submissions of these
programs developed by NVISION DESIGN,INC including Y2KGAME.EXE
and has all been confirmed to be free of viruses.
Now onto the real thing. Virus definitions have been updated yet again. As
I mentioned in my last notice there is expected to be a run of new viruses
between now and the end of the year. I know this is a busy time of the year
for everyone but you need to be very diligent in updating your virus
definitions. Just as an example, someone sent me yesterday as spam the
PrettyPark.exe virus!!! Norton caught it during the download of my mail. So
these things are out there.
Update virus definitions have been posted. Latest update is dated 14
December. If your definitions have not been updated as of that date please
do so now. Run Liveupdate or go to:
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html
