Sandy,
It has been shown that aggression is one genetic trait that is passed on
generation to generation.  Since the mother had to be put down due to this
problem, and now you are having this problem with the son, I would be very
cautious.  No one ever wants to see a dane get a bad reputation.  No one
ever wants to see anyone get bitten.  My thoughts will be with you as it
sounds like you are trying to decide what is best for all considered.
