I have to tell everyone what happened yesterday so no one else will
encounter this problem.
I went out for awhile and crated the dogs as usual. When I got back and let
the dogs out, I noticed that my male Dane, Avery, was missing his collar. I
started hunting around for it and spied it on the floor of his crate. I
bent to pick it up and found that the ring on the collar was firmly stuck in
a hook at the bottom of the crate. He has one of those huge Great Dane
crates that have panels that are put together with pins. At the bottom are
hooks that hold the sides to the bottom. I 'm sure that many of you have
this same crate. I don't know how he could have gotten his collar stuck
like that, but thank goodness it was loose enough for him to slip his head
out of. He will never wear a collar in his crate again, that's for sure.
I feel very lucky that he wasn't injured and wanted to warn everyone that
this could happen. I don't even want to think about what I could have come
home to!!
