Betty:
was it osteomyelitis???  I noticed that he is missing one digit.  I had
a dane years ago that we battled a nail infection for months, it finally
went into the bone and they had to amputate a toe, but at no time did it
ever look like that.  He did fine and healed beautifully and lived a
full 11 1/2 years.
