I have never heard of Macadamia nuts specifically being a problem, but, it
is possible if nuts are mouldy or spoiled to contain aflatoxins - which
would cause the symptoms you are describing (which is why some bird people
prefer not to feed their birds peanuts in the shells, and why most dont' use
that corn-cob bedding.
I would think that if you use caution in allowing your dog to consume the
"people grade" nuts, it wouldn't be a problem, but like anything there is a
risk associated. Every egg we eat potentially has salmonella in it, but I
still lick the raw batter if I bake cookies or cakes<G>.
