Geeze Louise, That is tougher than one would think it should be. I have
been in contact with several clubs for one reason or another recently and
from what I understand many of the breed clubs are focused on conformation
and offer very little for the 'pet' people. In a perfect world the club
would be very strong in Health Education, Breed Information and Rescue with
showing (be it conformation or obedience) secondary, but we know that is
not the norm.

Personally, I joined to learn as much as I could about great danes and to
try to offer something to the breed I'd fallen for. I have ended up
focusing on rescue because it is something I can help with that doesn't
require my physical presence (I'm geographically challenged).
