The Best In Show food looks good, and I also have another alternative to
Innova. We searched for a good kibble for our pups b/c right now I can only
do a "modified" BARF diet due to my pregnancy. My doc's have said NO to
handling raw meat all the time since my immune system isn't up to par just
yet. We had some major problems w/ Innova b/c the pups stools were not firm
at all, so we searched and searched to find a good alternative. The Best in
Show was a bit too high in protein for my tastes, so that was out of the
question for us.
We finally chose Neura Wellness Super 5Mix Chicken. For those of you
interested in the Neura Wellness line, go to:
http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com
We do add a veggie mix to the food but even w/o it they seem to really like
the taste.
We are using the Super5Mix Chicken which has the following ingredients:
Chicken, Ground Barley, Oatmeal, Rye Flour, Menhaden Fish Meal, White Fish,
Ground Brown Rice, Ground Millet, Canola Oil (preserved with Rosemary,
Vitamin C & E), Flax Seed, Amaranth, Dried Peas, Dried Carrots, Whole Sweet
Potatoes, Whole Apples, Whole Blueberries, Whole Clove Garlic, Alfalfa Leaf,
Yucca Schidigera, Probiotics (Lactobacillus Plantarum, Enterococcus Faecium,
Lactobacillus Casei, Lactobacillus Acidophilus), Prebiotics (Inulin,
Fructose), Shark Cartilage, Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulfate, various
vitamins and minerals
Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein .... not less than 22.0% Crude
Fat... Not less than 12.0% Crude Fiber... Not more than 3.0 % Moisture...
Not more than 11.0%
I will NEVER say that it is as good as BARF, but it is a nice alternative to
other kibbles. The pups stools are great on this food and they have less
gas, etc than when they were on Innova. My pups cannot handle the turkey in
the Innova, so this is a good change for them. The Neura Wellness line also
has a Super 5Mix Lamb Wellness for those of you who like lamb and rice
kibble, and they have a fish and Sweet potato formula for those pups w/
severe allergies. The fish and sweet potato food at a vet's office is
HORRIBLY expensive!!! So, this gives you another alternative...
Just thought you all might want to see some other decent kibbles.
