We heard the horn honking... Daboyz heard it, too...
Seldom does the "post lady" drive up to the drive way as our mailbox is on
the corner, and when she does she refuses to get out of the car as a matter
of course. "Dem dar big ole dogs" give her quite a fright. Anyway, Cork
headed out with the Christmas Turkey we got for her since she was here
anyway. (and the Turkey wouldn't fit in the mail box!)
He chatted for a few minutes, then started through the yard back to the
house after securing the gate. Daboyz waited for him by the door, whiney
voiced and stomping their feet. A little strange for them..but nothing too
much out of the ordinary. I didn't pay much attention.
Cork walked in and was literally pushed all the way to his easy
chair. Daboyz knew.
*It* was here. The time had come.
Daboyz were beside themselves with excitement! I hadn't paid much
attention to what he was carrying...but then I saw it... It was "THE
BOX". It was wrapped in brown paper cleverly decorated with red and green
paw prints!
I wonder if that's what made Daboyz know it was for them?
I started laughing at their excitement as Cork ineffectually tried to open
the Secret Santa gift. He was getting way too much help from Thor and
Mannie. Finally he managed enough elbow room to open the top. Thor
grabbed the box out of Corks reach! Cork made a grab for it, fell out of
his easy chair, and I started laughing harder! Mannie joined Thor as Thor
pushed his head through the top....and came up with the first of the
goodies!.... a super plushie sqeeky toy!... Thors favorite thing! He took
off to the bed with it, never ending "EEK...EEKS" emitting, before we even
got to see it.
Mannie, more sedate, and certainly more cautious, found his new collar
with his name on it! Now, something most of you don't know...Mannie is a
dapper dresser. He loves his "clothes"... He picked HIS collar out, (it
has his name on it) and pranced around the room with it as Cork tried to
convince him to let him put it on! Thor, seeing his brother with a
"prized possession" , made another trip back to the "goodie box"...and
found HIS collar. They tossed their heads, with the collars firmly planted
in those strong jaws... pranced their feet, and looked for all the world
like a couple of circus ponies trotting around the first ring of a three
ring circus!
I had to go find some tissue as the tears were rolling down my face from
laughter.
Cork quickly checked the box while their attention was elsewhere...and
found CHRISTMAS DOGGIE TREATS!...
Thor wouldn't put down his toy to take a treat, tried to eat it with the
toy all the way in his mouth....Mannie drooled a Niagara Falls on the
kitchen floor....and *I* finally got to see what was left in the box.
A beautiful Christmas Card!.... The picture of Beau and Sabrina (and of
course the human kids, Ashley and Liz) is wonderful! Sabrina and Beau have
huge red reindeer antlers on!...held in place by Ashley and Liz!... I
couldn't help but notice the resemblance of Sabrina and Beau to Mannie and
Thor!
Mannie and Thor traded toys, then traded back, each choosing the one they
liked the best, begged for more treats, and generally behaved as any kid
would on Christmas day.
Thank you so much Kim, Jim, Ashley, Liz, Beau, and Sabrina! What a
wonderful day it was.
