Alas, no.  This is a hard bug, and is still being worked on.  I wouldn't
really expect it to be fixed before 2007, unless we have some new and
brilliant ideas.  I do have some ideas, but I'm not sure that they're
brilliant, and previous experience suggests caution.

Tommy, could you take a look at these?

Isaac, how does it work setting the debian BTS on the nosy list (that is,
the CC list) on the darcs bug tracker? As long as it doesn't generate email
loops or other nastiness, that might be the easiest way to keep you
up-to-date on bug statuses.  Except that we don't always add comments when
resolving bugs...

This is also something that Tommy can better answer than I.  I'd guess
you'll have the ten days needed to get 1.0.6 into testing.  There's still
one important bugfix that's not yet moved into darcs-stable from
darcs-unstable (Eric's fix for the removal of non-empty directories).
