If 'doc' flag is not in use, everything is fine.
Does the file darcs.tex actually exist? It ought to have been created by an
earlier call to preproc. I haven't been able to reproduce this error.
Could you send a log of the entire build to me (perhaps off-list as it may
be sort of long)?
I have the same problem, from 1.0.3rc2 and upwards.
However, I'm suspecting that this is not a darcs issue, but a latex2html
issue (or of its configuration). I'm having this on an up-to-date
(stable) Gentoo distro. (And from Gour's message I see that he's using
Gentoo as well.)
I haven't had the time to figure this out a bit better, but latex2html
is complaining about files manual/TMP/styles and manual/TMP/darcs not
being present (relative to the build directory root). And it is
certainly right about that. TMP contains a number of dbm files
(.dir/.pag pairs), but none with names resembling 'styles' or 'darcs'.
Here is the relevant part of the build output in full:
