Is it simply that users' workspaces are on shares rather than local filesystems for administrative reasons, and since every Darcs workspace is a repository, you have to put repositories on shares?
I'm not 100% sure I understand the above scheme, but here at Bitworks all important data is managed by a Linux server (ext3) running samba. Its a raid system and backed up on a regular basis.
It exports many shares for both Windows and Linux systems. The master copys of our repos are pushed up to this server.
So depending on the project darcs may be pushing/pulling from XP -> samba, win 2000 -> samba, or Linux -> samba.
So yeah mostly for administrative issues and ease of use. -- Richard A. Smith Bitworks, Inc _______________________________________________ darcs-users mailing list [email protected] http://www.abridgegame.org/mailman/listinfo/darcs-users
