It seems to me that as long as darcs persists in naming its meta dir with a leading underscore instead of a leading dot that there will be an endless procession of tools accidentally processing it as though it is user data.
I thought the plan for solving this was to move to having the metadata stored in some sort of lumped format rather than as individual files. Or possibly in a database.
