That's a similar error message, but I found out that the problem is a corrupt repository. Looking at the history, I caused the problem by restoring a backup copy over an existing repo where I had moved files. Later patches list a "delete all lines" of the moved file, and the errors and problems thus ensued.

Interestingly, this was from several months ago, and "darcs get" doesn't notice any problem for some reason (maybe that's an issue worth looking into). Obliterate hits the problem directly when trying to reverse the incorrect patches, and "darcs repair" finds the problem immediately as well.

I guess it's a best practice to run "darcs repair" reasonably frequently to check for problems before they get worse by propagating through later patches.
