At first I was thinking this sounded like a reason to implement
prehooks.  I think that most needs for RCS style keywords could be
dealt with using a perl script, that just does a really simple regexp
check for keywords and replaces them.  I'm envisioning the script
running on a record just before darcs computes a diff.

If people really want keywords then I'd say leave the conflicts to the
maintainer.  You'll get a lot and they will all be 'trivial' (or
perhaps I should say annoying).

Perhaps to prove that this would be annoying; it would be easier to
wait on the prehooks and just write the perl script and agree to run
it before recording changes.
