+1 I am consistently impressed with Eric's leadership qualities, particularly his ability to coördinate volunteers with different skills and spare time (and timezones!), and his ability to set a polite and friendly tone in all fora. David's maudlin 2.0.0 release announcement was what made me take on an active role in the Darcs community, but working with Eric since then has convinced me that my fears of Darcs becoming "of historical interest only" were totally ludicrous.
