Hi all,

Thanks to some intensive gardening and porting by Guillaume, (and also to
Michael for initiating the push to lighter weight darcs development) we now
have simplified a bit of our web infrastructure.

Basically:

1. Visiting http://darcs.net in your browser should now take you straight to
the wiki. We have a few static pages (front page, donations, thanks) which can
only be edited over darcs/ssh

2. Getting repos off darcs net (eg. darcs get http://darcs.net or darcs get
http://darcs.net/releases/2.8) should still work as normal

3. To darcs get the wiki, you now need to do
darcs get --lazy http://darcs.net/darcs-wiki

(darcs get http://wiki.darcs.net will give you screened instead)

4. The manual should still work as normal (same old latex2html stuff), except
now it's based off reviewed rather than screened. Over time, it'd be great to
switch to all markdown (consolidation, nothing against LaTeX) and maybe move
the manual to a similarly static part of the wiki. On the other hand, we have
a nice amount of automation here that it would be sad to lose (part of the
manual is the same as the darcs help text, which is baked into darcs). This
whole situation could one day be improved so that the text lives in some (eg)
markdown file which magically gets baked into the source

The aim of this initiative is to make the darcs website a bit easier to
maintain.

Thanks, Michael and Guillaume!

Eric (who probably *still* managed to break something…)

Simon: we've lost your lovely efforts on the nice homepage! The wikified
version isn't quite as nice. Maybe you and Guillaume can sort something out?
