About last night,

Well the weather was absolutely super, as seven of us gathered at the Mooo
mall..It was lekker seeing DOC there, eisch... his knee brace and all after
his OP... eisch bru it looks eina, glad to hear that you are on your way to
recovery.. take it easy!!!! Oupa Gerrit who was on airport duty phoned to
say there was no way he was gonna make it, so we left into the dark night
with Cat-I (Carine) worried about our pace.... Hey this is Dark&Dirty, we
reminded her.. and we are not too worried about pace... rather a smiley face
:-)

So we head up cruiser and then take on Vetseun se Roll, man that is one
gnarly singletrack yeeehaaa.. Frequent Flyer (Jan) takes a mean knock on the
knee from his handlebar... as we go up Beeg Dipper, I get the same
treatment, even drawing some blood... (hence my turn to scribe a report
:-)... as we get to start of cornWall DH rush, Cat-I shows us a diveroll and
we contemplate whether the dust DH rush is worth the choking... but hey,
this is dark&dirty... so lets get dirty.....after the first two riders is
like cruisin through mist.... and all agreed that the powder dirt has stolen
all the funky gnarlynesss from the legendary DH, that it will be called
"Baby Powder DH" atleast untill the first rains have returned it to it's
former state of gnarlyness...
Mark has to adjust/tighten his seatpost as it has dropped into a nasty
quadbsting mode....eisch

Most of the speed zones are taken by Nico and his 14kg hardtail....eisch bru
YOU ROCK!!!! including the one along Rhino route... you know... the "light
at the end of the tunnel"...Where Cat-I shared some legendary "Ostrich"
stories from recent Landrover g4 challenge... Frequent Flyer leads us down
the mineshaft and we cruise sweetly through Blair witch forest.

Roetters route (singletrack next to R21) has had some nasty razor wire
alterations for the first 100m... talk about a blade runner... hope we never
find out what happens if someone crashes in there... but the rest (1km+) of
it is just schweeeeetness and usual and already there is talk of beer... so
we cruise up heartbreak ridge and then down that other little dip with a
short sharp lung busta climb to the top of Smuts DH.... in disbelief we have
not ridden this beauty down in ages...(Flash's old favourite i have
flashbacks of him rocketing downthere like and unstoppable demon) so it is
now worked into the amended Rock&roll route... yeeehaaaa was that rocking,
raging FUN!!!!

Beers were calling again, but not without a singletrack minded detour, up
that loose climb and into "look-ma-no-brakes" singletrack where we ductaped
hardy's hands to the bars so he could prove that it could be done with out
brakes....
Hahaha ...Just kiddin.. but I did manage to use minimal brakes...... hehehe
these softytails just take away so much skill requirement..

from there we bombed down the python where both racing snakes -spinner and
mummy got snakebites... they sorta sealed but spinner was forced to put a
tube in about 3km later... Beer was shouting now so we cruised up next to
Cornwall and the singletracked it all the way down the schwwwwwweeeeeet
cruiser and back to the moooo....
Although we were a few km's short of 40... Frequent Flyer reminded us that
it's all about smileage, not mileage :-) and that there certainly was a lot
of :-)

Some of the folks cruised off for beer and others went home. Thanks
everyone, it was an awesome night out and a real honour to ride with you!!!
