One of the incidents I'll probably never forget is your wipeout on the
gnarliest part of the "old" Cornwall Hill DH RUSH.

Never nice to get to a rider lying on his back not wanting to (or able
to) get up. At least we finally found your glasses...

I fall a lot. Almost every ride. I haven't fallen since Saturday. I
haven't RIDDEN since Saturday... But I don't often fall so hard that I
just want to hug the ground for a bit longer. Makes me cringe just
thinking about it.

I've seen The Mummy fall like that. And Daemon. And Dash. Myself too.
And a teenager called Donovan at the Barberton Classic. And some other
guys.

I've only seen a girl fall like that once before; it was on a sprint
race (one of James' team mates; I think she was close to losing a
tooth).

But riding that fine line between balance and poetry is what keeps me
coming back. When riding in the dark, constantly reacting to non-visual
feedback and avoiding that tummy-turning weightlessness feeling (just
before you hit the ground) is where it's at. Every now and again you
misjudge the feedback.

Last Saturday I should have had a major wipeout (on top of the one I
had).

I was cruising downhill next to Sgt Skillz on a wide bumpy trail, when I
got that tummy-turning feeling.

Shortly after that, lots of feedback on the handlebars (almost lost my
grip on them).

Shortly after that, I simply continued cruising.

It could have turned out differently, and my D&D rides are to blame. We
sometimes forget that when we're cruising on "holy dirt" in the dark,
we're actually on the wrong side of control.

Turns out there was a dip (without a lip) on the trail, and if it had
been deeper, I would have bought some property, again.

Keep the rubber side DOWN, and the smiley side UP, guys!!

It was mooo'se cool going down old "Baby Powder",
You couldn't see the rocks or anything for that matter in front of you
and had to ride the DH solely on feeling,
almost felt like we were stuck in the Bermuda triangle... disorientated
and feeling like you were gonna fall anytime soon.
