Subject: [DarknDirty] [DarknDirty]

Hey Hardy, Donald and aaaaaall the other Dark & Dirty riders and lurkers,

Thank you for the understanding and the appreciation you guys have (re)created
with this morning's mail. And thank you for re-emphasizing the importance of
the reasons why some things are done.

I apologize to those who got offended with my k...@kking'em out, because I'm
frustrated and dumfounded by riders who totally miss the point of DnD rides.
SOCIAL SAFE RIDING. Looking out for one another (the whole group's
responsibility), while having FUN, riding, sharing and bonding with fantastic
people (mostly) and awesome dusty dark trails (mostly - some are plain gnarly).

A special thank you to everyone, sharing the D!rt and Dark rides with us. A
very special thank to those who GET IT and for the few who have spoken out and
supported us when we were unable to say, just how much we Hardies needed it.

Thank you to every volunteer who has helped in the past (almost) four years.
Fourth anniversary is in April 2009. And Thank you to those who are current
volunteers and who continue helping us make the rides fantastic.

We are not an official club. We are not in it for money or glory. We don't
have a vision and mission statement. We are not entangled in ambitions,
recognition, rules and regulations.

We as Dark and Dirty are something rare and much more special than the
entanglements and typical entrapment of the RAT RACE/S we already live and
struggle by from day to day!

This is a very special group, made special by it's very special people AND we
get to share all of this FOR FREE (mostly). And there is only ONE rule, stay
together. SOCIAL SAFE FUN RIDING.

We will continue to do our best to make it fun for everyone (and there are vast
requirement and blatant demands). While we all have fun, please continue to
look out for each other, be aware of the guy in front of you and the guy (or
girl) behind you. SOCIAL SAFE FUN RIDING.

Most importantly and please forgive my bias, I'd like to thank Hardy. The
Hardy of all the HARDIES in the heart of it all. On behalf of everyone in the
group, as I'm sure they all mean to say..... THANK YOU HARDY.

FOR

your passion for adventure,
your leadership that embraces all personalities and every opinion,
your patience and understanding for every rider,
your gentle and respectful nature,
all the scouting on trails you do,
all the advice you give and knowledge you share,
all the advertising for other races you do, so everyone is informed of the fun
options there are,
the crazy names you give the fun trails,
your initiative with the reports and report writers,
the appreciation you have for other adventurers,
the recognition you give the group, while not expecting anything in return,
AND for the person you are from within, which while having fun and driven by
passion, modestly... touches and enriches so many other lives.

We love you Hardy and we love DnD! .... and everyone in it (well mostly, some
are plain gnarly) :)

HERE'S TO 2009 AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF DnD SMILAGE.

c ya on the D!rt

Good point about the formidable Q.T. !!

She's always been a driving force behind the safety in numbers thing, and I've
seen her (and Elsie) more than once k...@k out someone that doesn't play along
nicely with the group.

>From the first time almost 4 years ago I rode with you's (sic) I realised
>there something special about the dynamics in the group... I remember asking
>whether you have a business doing group activities and this was just one of
>them; you were THAT WELL ORGANISED and supportive of the backmarkers. Dirty
>used to sweep so often and always without making a scene used to keep the herd
>together.

And now Eric when he sweeps.

I missed yet another ride last night, due to the ankle (it's still getting
better every day almost) and business and family responsibilities.
But, I must warn ya: I'll be back!!

No no no... Thank YOU's for Riding with us!!!

And thank YOU's for understanding when we get very Narfy about sticking
together!!!!!

And I must say, Thank You Q.T. for often coming and giving me feedback as to
how the group is handling pace... sometimes she will come and tell us to slow
down even when frowned upon by some riders... But they don't understand, its
all for the safety as you can see how quickly bad things can happen...... We
got our lesson early on in the D&D days and we know how the keeping together /
safety in numbers prevented a possible really nasty situation...

But that being said, We can only continue to pray that we have safe adventures
in the dark..... cos this is mos africa...
