This is an annual event that a guy at work organises. He will allow 4-person team entries ON MOUNTAIN BIKES. AND, the challenge is out there to see whether a 4-person bike team can beat the vehicles. Gender rules and traffic regulations apply. You can expect to be given two shooters along the route. Dressing-up and being silly is encouraged. Dean says that the total distance is probably around 35km; obviously less optimal route choices will do more distance. The challenge is on! I'm totally confident that bikes will beat cars. Please note the race is only open to those who are between the ages of 18 and 94. Sorry, 95 year olds just can't cut it. 1. I will not pay speeding fines. Drive at your own risk. Any team who organises a police escort gets a big "thumbs up" from me. 2. Each car to have a team of 4. You could have 5 but I doubt that'll help you! 6 and I hope one of them is David Kramer in your Volksie Bus. Not very streamlined that vehicle. 3. Each team to have 1 (ONE) girl. Transvestites do not count. She must be accredited with boobs. Teams with 4 girls and no guys will be awarded a 10 minute head start (kick off at 1:20pm). 4. The driver of the car must, will and always has to be female. No male may ever drive. He must just sit there and watch, and gently navigate... 5. All contestants to be at Q Ba by 1pm on Saturday 04 April. The madness kicks off at 1:30pm sharp (unless you have 8 boobs in your car - see point 3)! 6. Petrol stops waste time and that's if they have fuel supplies! Begin the race with a full tank (of petrol that is, go to the bathroom before hand). 7. There will be 10 clues! There may even be 10 destinations. First team back at Q.ba with proof of solving all 10 clues will be deemed the winner. No bribery or corruption will be tolerated! Are police escorts allowed? OF COURSE! 8. You may buy a lifeline if you cannot solve a clue. It costs R50 per clue (203,765,286.74 Zimbabwe Dollars - seriously!). Thanks to all those last time who never paid for the lifelines, the kids suffered! This time you have to buy credits up front! Maximum of 3 Lions per team will be accepted. We will return unused notes after the race... 9. Shops close at 5. Remember this! You might need to buy a thing or two... 10. High heels are for later. Not for the race. Wear comfortable shoes. Maybe, just maybe, you might end up running. Laura Croft couldn't even do that in high heels. 11. I wonder how many people are actually still reading this far... 12. If I come right with some sponsors again there might even be a prize for best dressed team and best dressed car. Herby can't wait... 13. No clue will endanger any team. Unless you are Luke Watson and then, I suggest you stay away from Ellis Park. 14. All teams to have the following in their possession: a. A camera. Digital preferably. It might waste a bit of time if you have to go develop your pics at Foto First. An hour could be a long time to wait. Proof of all 10 clues must on camera with the other 3/4 team mates in every photo. b. There is no b. c. One hot girl as driver, read rule 3. d. 3/4 passengers. Should, at some point during the race, you realize you are short of one of these, you better head back to find them. I suggest bells around their necks. e. One map book. Or you can be larnie and have one of those space age, futuristic, "G. P. S" thingies - like those will have take off! HA. f. One motor vehicle. Try not losing this along the way! A beep-beep alarm system with good signal helps to find where you parked it in times of mild panic. g. Cooler box with alcohol stock (for ¾ non-driving team mates) and lots of water for the driver - optional (the cooler box not the driver and the H2O). 15. Driver to remain sober throughout the trip. SEE - REE - USS! 16. Every person is encouraged to invite more people. 150 teams at least this year! It's for the kids! Do it. 17. Looking at the economy of late, most things have been hit by inflation. Blow up dolls have gone up 24%. Umm... I mean... So I heard. Because we love having everyone take part, we are keeping the race entry like a $2 dollar hooker, Dirt Cheap. R250 per team which isn't even enough to buy Joost another line or a blow... up doll. Registrations online on the website (www.penquin.co.za/Race) under the page called... Yes you guessed it - "Registrations!" Credit Card payments done online. How fancy is that? 18. All teams to attend prize giving at Q.ba afterwards. Prize giving will begin at 7:00pm. It gets really thirsty during the prize giving, beer is welcome. Yes, this also means that if you haven't solved all 10 clues by 7:00 you have not won the race so please do return... 19. Only the top 10 teams will have their clues checked. So if you need a pat on the back, ask your mom to meet you afterwards. Come on! Make her proud! 20. Registration on the day could be a bit sluggish. Try get to Q.ba a bit early to sign in and sign the indemnity (I-won't-sue-for-breaking-my-leg-and-crashing-my-car) form. You also have to buy the 1, 2 or 3 lifelines during this step. 21. Print and keep the rules on you at all times! If you get pulled over by a cop car, this rule sheet will not get you off though!
