I phoned him earlier today; he was at work... he has been off the
crutches since Saturday, but will probably not ride this week: next week
he should be back!

Sounds like he is bruised and sore but that should all heal in time.

He explained that the pedal hit a rock in the singletrack, and being in
big blade the bike got airborne and his bum met his saddle quite hard,
which sent him flying out and landing on the rock on the right side of
the singletrack.

So two injuries for the price of one ...

A stone also got embedded into his helmet, and the helmet has another
new dent as well...

So he needs a new helmet and has a newly a bruised ego (and some other
things...).

All good. Wedding date is not moving.

        OK, OK, I admit it!

... The longest ride I've done on a tandem was 95km on tarred
roads and that was tough already. No cold weather, no rain, no mud, no
punctures, no drivetrain failures, no brake system failures, no
navigation issues, no injuries, no cramps, no lack of support, no
sleepmonsters ... I can go on. I now know I can ride for 5 days, but I
don't know about going on and on with painful injuries ... that usually
forces me to give up, where others continue.

Serious hats off to the riders of the FC (even the "short" R2R
...).

I have my own thoughts about tandeming the freedom challenge.

Most of those thoughts, however, are 4 letter words.
