Dear Legendary Oupa Gert, Hardy, QT

I was not one of the originals to D&D. I only joined a bit later. I have never
been a regular. I was always the occasional rider in the dark.

I am not one of the poets with a cycling problem. I am just a guy growing up
with a wife and 3 lovely daughters that need a bit of time to do 'man things'
(my wife's words, not mine). MTB'ing provides me with that bit of escape to an
adrenalin and fun-filled world.

I have led but one ride, and I got slaughtered (;-))for being a bit hot on the
pace. I was always one of the backmarkers, so what did I know about pace?

BUT, I always have fun when my unfortunate schedule allows for riding.

I remember submitting a ride report after being chased by traffic police in
Vietnam. I have posted reports to this forum from Singapore on riding a
foldable bike to work and back. I have posted 'help my trap' ride reports from
Indonesia, reports on cycling with my girls on an island in Thailand.

At this moment I work in Richardsbay during the week - flying back on Thursday
evenings. I deliberately take the R21 back home hoping I might spot a few
lights in the dark near the Moo-Mall. Sadly I have only seen them once close to
the shebeen a couple of weeks ago.

I am also recovering from an Achilles rupture. I started cycling a few weeks
ago. I managed to squeeze a few rides in at Groenkloof over the weekends. My
aim was to do a D&D ride with you guys before the end of the year. The way my
rehab is going, I will be able to get one in before end of September!

As soon as the schedule allows it again, as soon as the Achilles tendon is
strong enough again, I WILL be at the Moo-Mall looking for likeminded free
spirits. I hope to see OG, Francois, DK, Hardy, QT, Carine, Otto, Duck Tape and
few others there.

May the cries op Whoop-Whoop continue to scare the bats at night.

The Russian.

Subject: [D&D-chat] Dark and Dirty, quo vadis?

This is the ride report of the ride that was not. For only one rider even the
urban bash is not advisable.

That was the report; now the question: Are you still interested in the D&D
rides? And if so how often and how far?
Going on the last few months it seems that the Intro ride is reasonably popular
and attended well. The rest don't happen or end up in urban rides because of
the small number of riders.

Please don't feel attacked; that is not the purpose of this message, but please
give your honest feeling about the rides. Since Hardy's work has been
preventing him to lead every week, I have tried to keep things alive just
because I enjoy it so much, but if it is not working then let it be...

Oupa Gert.
