The el'weirdo bayer is just to compensate for the lack of an AA
filter, which gives slightly better sharpness.

In my opinion the problems it creates (the perputual software
maintenance burden) are far worse than the problems it solves (lack of
resolution).

Currently we have no interest in implementing support for non-bayer
type sensors.

If community members have in interest in implementing support for
aberrant sensor, we'd certainly be interested, assuming the code
integrates well and said members also have an interests in doing
longer term maintenance of said code.
