Ulrich, My impulsive response was: it is a 64bit openSuse 12.1 system. Because I'm pretty sure that;s what I installed.
Then I thought how can I check: according to several suggestions I found on the internet: ---------------------------------------------- Suggestion a: do a 'cat /proc/cpuinfo' and look at the flags. If the flag 'lm' is present, it is 64 bit. Result: flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx rdtscp lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pe bs bts xtopology nonstop_tsc aperfmperf pni dtes64 monitor ds_cpl vmx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr pdcm sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt lahf_lm ida dts tpr_shadow vnmi flexpriority ept vpid bogomips : 5328.92 clflush size : 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 36 bits physical, 48 bits virtual This then suggests it is a 64 bits system ... Suggestion b: uname -m gives: i686 This is 32 bits?????? Suggestion c: getconf LONG_BIT gives: 32 This is 32 bits... =================================== So you might have pointed to the underlying core of the problem, that perhaps DT is not aware of the 64 bits... Can I force DT into 64 bits, or do I have a 32 bit system really, while think it was a 64 bit..........
