at the moment there are two kinds of highlight. a very bright one and 
more grey one. one is done by clicking a image, the other is by hovering 
over the same or other image. from my point of view they are both 
selections, but with different scopes. is this nessesary, and if, to 
what extend.

I can imagine that when you are in single picture view, you use it to 
evaluate and rate pictures, i.e. to make the rough selection of what to 
keep and what not. or to show a picture to sombody. the multiple picture 
view is for finding the right one in a later stadium.
