Just run basecurve without argument, it tells you the commands and
options to use:

> $ basecurve 
> usage: basecurve inputraw.ppm (16-bit) inputjpg.ppm (8-bit) [num_nodes]
> convert the raw with `dcraw -6 -W -g 1 1 -w input.raw'
> and the jpg with `convert input.jpg output.ppm'
> plot the results with `gnuplot plot'
