Hi,
the last point did the trick. I have darktable 64bit but somehow the two memory values you mentioned where 500 and 8. I restored them and now the picture comes out fine.

Hi Matthias,
so your system is not using OpenCL but runs on CPU and does a lot of
tiling. As you wrote earlier you are running on a 64bit system with 4GB.
Normally this should not require darktable to do any tiling with the
given file size.
Two possibilities:
a) although on a 64-bit system your darktable executable could be a
32-bit one. You should locate it ('which darktable') and then check the
executable type: 'file <your executable>'. If it's 32-bit try to find a
64-bit version and install that instead.
b) the memory settings in core options may be wrong. For a 64-bit
executable 'host memory limit' should be something like 1500 and 'single
butter limit' should be 16. These are the default which you can restore
by double-click on the two options.
