Hi,

I was wondering, how is the "Style" setting for export supposed to
work? As far as I remember, this was added to dt before multiple
instances of development modules were implemented, so unsurprisingly,
a style that uses a development module that is already used with some
image will simply replace the settings in the image. However, is this
the proper idea?

The reason I ask is that for exports done explicitely for printing,
it's sometimes a good idea to do some extra sharpening, and my though
was then to create a style that has a second instance of the
sharpening module with whatever values I see fit, and use it when
exporting, thereby sharpening the image a little more than it already
is. Unsurprisingly, this cannot be done, and if I try with a style
that has the exact same sharpening values as is already part of the
developped image, the result will be exactly the same as if I didn't
used that export style.

It would be practical to have the possibility to have export styles be
treated as extra instances. It would basically implement "delta"
styles, and thereby avoids the need to know for each export what
values are already part of the image (in my case above, I have to have
a number of extra sharpening styles with different values, and to know
the exact sharpening values that are already part of each image I want
to export before deciding what extra sharpening style to use for it)

I would try to implement this myself, but I've a hard time figuring
out exactly where in the code the changes would need to be. If
someone wants to give me a clue, I'll thankfully take it :-)

Cheers,
Richard
