Hi Tobias, Thanks! for helping me solve this problem. I ran Darktable from the command line, and it appears there was a glib problem: (process:22245): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2722: You forgot to call g_type_init() (process:22245): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed (process:22245): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_newv: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_INSTANTIATABLE (itype) || G_TYPE_IS_INTERFACE (itype)' failed (more lines, then) (darktable:22217): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance (darktable:22217): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_emit_valist: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed (darktable:22217): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_lookup: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_INSTANTIATABLE (itype) || G_TYPE_IS_INTERFACE (itype)' failed repeated over and over again. I had glib-2.32.4-r1 installed in /usr, from Gentoo portage, plus glib-2.36.2 installed in /usr/local for Gimp from git. I don't think Gentoo handles /usr/local packages the same way other distributions do. I thought they (usually?) get ignored. Perhaps I was wrong. So be on the safe side I uninstalled glib from /usr/local, restarted the computer, then reinstalled Darktable. Now the terminal output is different: (darktable:10055): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "clearlooks", repeated four times total, then no more terminal output. The good news is the modules in "More modules" aren't disappearing anymore. Also, everything works **much** more smoothly. Yeah! The bad news is I still can't type in an Exposure value. When I right-click on the numbers (eg "0.00EV"), the graphical arc/curve comes up. User error? Am I overlooking something obvious? > >> Elle, trying to figure out how to use Darktable > > Tobias, trying to help out :) > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ November Webinars for C, C++, Fortran Developers Accelerate application performance with scalable programming models.
