Hi David,

Could the "Christmas tree lights" (aka "zippering artifact") be from the
default x-trans demosaicer, VNG? With bilinear or VNG demosaic, these
will show at 1:1 view on horizontal/vertical edges, such as the railing
bars in your image. The better/slower Markesteijn demosiac should get
rid of them: in the "demosaic" module in the "active pipe" or "basic
group" tabs choose "Markesteijn 1-pass (slow)" or "Markesteijn 3-pass
(slower)".

The catch being that Markesteijn defaults to only running on export. To
get the satisfaction of seeing it run on-screen (at the cost of approx.
2x to 6x slower response), in the "core options" of preferences, set
"demosaicing for zoomed out darkroom mode" to "full (possibly slow)".
This actually applies at 1:1 view too, and is fast enough in that case.
(There's been prior comment on list about how this config option is a
misnomer.)

If it's something else, let me know!

Best,
Dan
