Yes ... that is the problem ... GTK apps are not responding to the KDE mouse 
settings on any of my systems. I have also made very 'clean' builds in order 
to determine if there is a particular app that is creating the problem but 
found nothing.

My real surprise is that others using dt have not seen the same situation. 
There a number of postings that discuss the problem but no real solution.
