I hadn't tried that, no. The value was set to 0. After increasing it and
restarting (seemed to be necessary) I no longer see the problem!
I'm not sure what a good value for this setting is. Is this system RAM, or
video RAM?
Thanks very much for your help. I'm very happy to have a usable darktable
again.
