First of all I have to correct myself: The issue happens even with geeqie idle. At least when geeqie is idle in the sense that I only have opened the settings dialog. Waiting a few minutes and just walking throught the settings, without changing anything triggers the issue. But I can not find the settings you suggest. I dont see anything related to the GPU.
