Hi Pascal;

I have taken my time responding so that I can be fairly thorough in my tests.

The dt problem again: Portrait images print correctly, landscape images fail.

I have now checked that in both CUPS as well as on the HP driver setup the
basic parameters are not in conflict. (Page size, quality, paper type etc)

I exported, to the ~/Desktop a dt 'landscape' image in pdf, opened it into
Gimp and it printed correctly. ... and sent the same image to the printer from
the terminal:
lp -d hpphotosmartprob8800series -o landscape=true
/home/david/Desktop/IMG_2084.pdf  .... this failed

I collected the error message information from CUPS [Job 68]
https://www.dropbox.com/s/28mtvmilr225z2y/HP-print-error.txt?dl=0
The failure was almost immediate but it took several minutes before
the printer finally ejected the paper and went back to the 'ready' status.

I did try also to print a 'portrait' image in the same fashion (portrait=true
... not sure if this is correct?) this also failed.

As a further test I printed from dt a landscape image but used a style
"rotate-90" at output ... this did work but margins and quality were
incorrect, as to be expected.

The default printer driver in use is *hpjis 3.14.6 and I also tried to change
the driver to *hpcups 3.14.6 .... there was then output but in B/W on multi-
pages .... not sure if this is a direction for further investigation.

I hope this information helps. This is a rather old printer and as I said I
previously had problems with Photoprint; those problems were never solved as
the maintenance for that software was, at that time, almost non-existent.

Regards;

David
