just re-implementing richardson/lucy as suggested later in this thread will
probably not give you a degree though, even if you do it from scratch and
don't just go for the sunday afternoon job and use libclarity.
there is some more interesting/academic work to be done for dual iso and
raw denoising, but that stuff is substantially harder to accomplish and i
wouldn't recommend that to anyone without knowing about their background
first.
