take a look a hugin.
I use hugin for panos, but it has a HDR module as well. Accepts JPG as
Input.

I export from DT as TIFF and merge these in Luminance. Then from Luminance
back in DT. Luminance can align images - some times it is good some times
not. If you use tripod and self trigger (don't touch the camera) it should
work well.
