With the latest update that includes the new spot healing tool,
darktable is now a serious choice for scanner operators as well.
However, it still fails to correctly interpret 16bit TIFF files in LAB
color space that are output by Heidelberg's scanner software Newcolor.
This software supports Heidelberg's high-end flatbed and drum scanners
that are still in use worldwide in considerable numbers and its output
in LAB color space allows for the most flexible editing of the scans.
Photoshop and Lightroom do read it correctly while darktable screws up
the colors, making everything look neon colored, which btw. is also the
case for many other tools. I still haven't found out what the cause is.
What would be needed to get that fixed? Does it make sense to upload
such a TIFF file to rawpixls?
Best wishes,
Christian
