Ah, thank you Patrick.
So 'tethering-for-control-in-real-time' as opposed to 'tethering-for-upload'.

Yes, I've done that, "in the field". But my PC is a desktop Dell tower
connected via switch to my router and a few other networked devices like the
printer. It is not the kind of thing I could carry about in the field unless I
wanted to lug a Honda generator as well. I suppose if this were a lab and the
camera was attached to a microscope or an oscilloscope it would be different.

HOWEVER
The idea of a larger screen than the 3" on on the back of the camera appeals.
And yes, I've done that 'in the field'. My phone is only 5.5" but that still
larger. I had an android application that did that. I like the swing-out
screen on the Canon more than the swing-down screen on the Sony. This was
better. I also have a 12" Android tablet and that was glorious as a viewscreen!

But the workflow was awful!
There's no practical way to hold the camera and the tablet, not enough arms.
One or the other or, eventually, both, had to be on tripods. (As it happens I
have a third tripod for the flash.) If you can make you workflow happen around
that, more likely in the studio, then fine. I'm not a studio photographer; I'm
out on the street, trails, ravines and the like, so this was just an experiment
for me. I don't recall the program, but I'm sure you can search the PlayStore.
I tried three that worked well enough for what they were.

I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote
peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that
one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have
it.
