I will wait patiently for Pascal ;)
In the meantime I first installed DT 2.8 on my new 'Windows' pc when I
still had Linux Mint installed on it, just to see what the new cpu has
to offer DT (i7 9700K, 32Gb ram, no overclocking, geforce 1660 super).
(I wrote about going to use LR on Windows for a while a week or so ago)
It's insane how fast DT imported 50 Nikon D850 raw images from the XQD
card! I could not see the process of importing, they where just there
inside DT in a fraction of a second. Amazing.
After that I installed Windows and LR on that pc and imported the same
images in LR. The difference in speed is 'huge'. I haven't done any real
measuring, but importing took much more time. 5-8-10 seconds? Also
swithing between an image from the library to the editing screen is much
faster in DT.
