Ubuntu based distros do not install the lensfun utilities by default.
Liblensfun-bin is required for the latest updates. Arch based distros
install the full lensfun package so the update command is all that is
needed. I would contact whomever maintains lensfun for Ubuntu and
request the utilities be installed as a dependency.

Did I miss it somewhere in the installation instructions? I came to
believe lensfun was installed/included with the darktable package.
But when working with images the list of lenses/cameras from within
darktable was minuscule.
Yesterday I rolled up my sleeves and dug into the problem. I
determined that lensfun was a very minimal subset, perhaps not
installed at all. I installed what I thought was lensfun
(Python3-lensfun) from the Linux Mint Software Manager, didn't help.
Finally figured out I needed to install liblensfun-bin and execute
lensfun-update-data then things seemed to start working as
expected....Lens correction worked, many more cameras/lenses to pick
from...etc.
Boy that seemed like a lot of work and rather cryptic at times. Was
there a concise guide that outlined the need and method to add
lensfun to darktable? Do I have it installed correctly and completely?
TIA
