With DT we are getting a great product for free because of the fantastic effort of the developers. If someone wants to volunteer their time to improve the data asset management side of DT then it would replace the need of programs such as LR which is now a monthly subscription. If I had the computer programming skills I might try and do that, but since I don't I won't criticise the great work done by DT's developers. DT is my preferred image processor and sometimes I use other programs, both free and paid for, to do tasks DT is not as good at. DT is an editing program first and foremost. DAM capabilities would be great but I will be patient and see if anyone comes up with a solution.
I wonder if DT gets great DAM capabilities if the next issue will be the lack of layers that sends photographers running to GIMP or PS. It is unlikely one program can do everything so I will use multiple programs and recognise the strengths of each. Again my thanks to the developers of DT, GIMP and RawTherapee. Sometimes I dream of a world where RawTherapee and DT are merged in one program called DarkTherapee. There are great features in both programs but from the outside it seems synergy of these two development teams would be so great.
