Thanks Bernard.  
The color profiles are the same (sRGB) but the color/tone of the image is
different (not much: the darkroom image is a little brighter).  I now also
exported the image using the same profile. The color/tone is like the one of
the preview window.

I can reproduce something like that in Linux also - if it's the same
scenario, then it looks like "user error" ;)

In the bottom line of darkroom on the right side there are some symbols
(light bulb, color squares etc.), the forth one is like a horse-shoe.
Right click on that and look for the 2nd and 3rd entry: they are for the
color profiles of the two windows and should be the same when both windows
are placed on the same monitor.
