I compile myself from a release tag, and cherry-pick features / bug
fixes that I want (not always possible, but sometimes). So I hope to get
the best from both worlds.

Having latest bugs and possibly corrupt your db and broke all your
edits :)
So if you're going to compile yourself master make sure you have
reliable backups.
