In lighttable if you left click and drag your mouse around the placement of the images is changed. While this can be helpful, sometimes I manage to completely lose the images and have to get out of that film roll and come back into it. This might be similar to your problem. I would benefit from a keyboard shortcut to bring back the images quickly. There may be one already, but I don't know what it would be. In Adobes Lightroom they have the letter G to return to grid view.
