You might batch-copy the EXIF from jpg to dng using exiftool
Example:

(note that this command works the other way round)

Taking this problem one step further ... If I shoot DNG+JPG then the JPG does provide the full EXIF data set. So the question then is whether there is some means to polinate the DNG from the JPG.

Any ideas?

what is it that no one can accept that DNG is*only* a pseudo standard,
ie: is not the same in every invocation.
it's simply the fact that there are cameras out there who's manufacturer decided to use that extension for their in-camera generated raw files. Pentax (option), Leica e. g. and obviously those spy devices some people
call 'smartphone' ...

And as those files are in-camera raw files it is expected that they behave
like .nef, .raf, .cr2, ...
which is clearly lack of a standard/definition and something to
avoid-if-at-all-possible.

I agree. But, unfortunately, due to people's pressure, it is (going) to become a /de-facto/ standard. Despites its multiple lacks and defects. :-(
Not really.
Nobody calls for a .nef to be a standard e. g. - they tend to vary from camera model to model. Same for .raf or .orf or whatever. That's the reason for us to build a big database like raw.pixls.us - and this is necessary.

Same here. Don't be fooled by the extension.
In my view those "DNG" are simply born from the inability or unwillingness of the app developer or said camera manufacturers to invent their own thing.

So they are RAW in a sense and have to be treated like all the other RAW formats we already deal with.

This being said: never confuse this with the crazy things that a "dng-converter" of a big company from the usa with a connected money printing machine spits out .
