The requested beginners workflow is already described: https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/en/overview/workflow/ But if a beginner even doesn’t spend time to read the first section of the manual, why deveolpers should spend time to provide a gui they never would use for their edits. Darktable developers „eats their own dogfood“ so the ui is to satisfy their demands.
