Hi Guillermo,

Thank you, this sounds like what I was looking for. I searched xmp on the manual web site and it looks like it does not return history stack section. May be my search terms were wrong.

Hi Niranjan,

what you want is the "load sidecar file" option on lighttable's "history stack" module: https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/en/module-reference/utility-modules/lighttable/history-stack/ <https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/en/module-reference/utility-modules/lighttable/history-stack/>

    Greetings,

    darktable version 3.4.1

    I came across this
    (https://discuss.pixls.us/c/processing/playraw/30
    <https://discuss.pixls.us/c/processing/playraw/30>)
wonderful section on pixls.us <http://pixls.us> where images can
    be uploaded and very
helpful community shows the magic of opensource tools by processing
images. This is very valuable tool in my opinion as you can see the
changes and magic. I am learning a lot by downloading the images
    and xmp
    files and studying the effects.

I'm struggling with applying the sidecars - xmp files. I tried
    looking
    at the manual and section

https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/en/overview/sidecar-files/sidecar-import/

<https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/en/overview/sidecar-files/sidecar-import/>

seems to be most relevant. The problem I face is when I download the
image and corresponding xmp files, everyone names it differently
    based
on their choice or completely inverse scenario where file is named as
exactly same by many. I have to remember to name it correctly and
    save
it in right directory. Default browser saving format is also not very
friendly to darktable sidecar reading logic.

Is there a feature in darktable where I can just say, take this
    xmp file
and apply it to the current image? I think this is similar to
    creating
style from history stack, but source will be xmp file but could not
    easily figure it out.

    Regards,

    Niranjan
