Hi Mike, DT 3.8 is not slower on my geriatic computers using Windows. I have installed it on my Linux Mint machines as well, but do my editing currently on my Windows computer. There are some massive improvements to functionality and features in 3.8 that are worth the upgrade. For instance Filmic is better and there is a new module called diffuse or sharpen which has impressed me. So I agree with Pascal that the problem is something else. If I remember correctly you are using Linux, but confirming the OS would be helpful here.
